When you put the new eng on dont bolt it up till you have the belt on both the tranny and eng pullies.
Once you have the belt on both pullies, then bolt in the eng. FROM HERE ALL REFERANCES ARE FROM YOU SITTING IN THE SEAT. Your belt belt should have slid more to the right of the steering, if it isnt youll burn the belt up in 30 sec, ask me how I know. Then look at the two idlers on the right side, one is a v and the other is flat. Push, and watch your fingers, the belt past the guides so that the flat side is on the flat idler, and the v in the v pullie. Youll have to move them around with your other hand to get them in. Once you have that in place look straight across and youll see one more idler, just slip it on. MTD pays 1 hour to do the job. First time will take a little longer. The key to the job is the belt threw the guids, that you cant see up in the frame around the steering. When you think you have it all in place, trun it with your hands to see if its rubbing nanything. Pull the plugs out of the eng so it turns past TDC easier. Il keep my eye on this thread if you have any more questions. Frank and I have thought about doing a video and putting it on you tube. Hes doing one now with a tranny rebuild. |

Thank you for the help so far, I should be installing the engine and drive belt buy this Thursday. I'll let you know how it goes. I know a YouTube demo would be a good idea since there is nothing out there now showing how to do it.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
