Default Plow Project on 124

Now that I have a proper diagram (thank you members)
I am trying to find some chains.

I ordered 1/4 inch steel spacers for clearance
I need to find the exact lugs for the wheels
just 1/4 longer.

Does anyone have sources for lugs or size
and thread?

I am also hoping the chains will run
on the Carlyle Ag tires that I have on
it.

Thoughts or suggestions are appreciated!

Cheers,

Roy

I think the lug bolts are 7/16" NF, but why do you need spacers? I have never needed wheel spacers to use chains on any of the Cubs I've had.

I had to upsize my chains to fit my Carlisle 10.5's because the normal chains for the turfs that size came up short. If your lug tires have deep bars, then i suggest you scale up your tire chain size to accomodate the larger tires.

What size chains did you end up using for the 10.5's?

I have the same setup as Capt Max. -Very nice rig btw!

It seems because of the rear tires and chains that a 1/4 of space would help the chain aspect of it.

I would love to know the chain size that fit.

Cheers,

Roy

If you have the correct rims and keep the chains tight, you do not need spacers.

I think if I were you, find an old set of turfs for the chains, they work better with chains anyway, keeping more of the chain in contact with the ground. With ags, the chains will try to slip between the lugs and therefore not contact the surface you are driving over. An old set of weather beaten turfs with an extra set of wheels would do the trick, even if you need to tube them to keep them inflated. Save your ags for summer use.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
