Default cub 682

hey guys, im back, whats a good price for a 682 with manual lift? the fever is burning and i need another one. the guy priced it to me for 950. it dosent creep and runs really good, deck had a dent in it from hitting a tree? thanks

How many hrs on the engine? Does it have a Series I or II engine? Is the 682 IH or CCC/MTD built? You'll need the serial number to no for sure if it's IH built. Is the body in good shape? Even if it's an IH built 682 with low hour Series II engine, I probably wouldn't pay more than 850 since it's manual lift unless it's in outstanding condition. Also, what size deck does it have and does it have a 3pt hitch?

$950 for a 682 is nuts. That's pushing it for a 782. Things may be different where you are from, but that's a $600 tractor at max here. I'd give about $200, so I'd also keep looking for a better deal. You could buy 4 tractors with that $950.

it had the original 17hp kohler in it and it is a true ih tractor. didnt get a chance to look at the hr meter. the guy that has it runs a tractor shop and says "he knows nothing about it" and that he took it in on trade for one of his dixie crappers. what would be a good offer without insulting him. wait a minute he insulted me with the 950 price, so who cares if i insult him rightwhats the difference in a series I and a seriesII engine?

The series 1 engine didn't have pressure lubed crank journals and were prone to blow up if you put them on a hillside. The series 2 engine corrected that problem. You would need the spec number off the engine to check if it has a series 1 or 2. I'm not sure what the spec numbers are, so hopefully someone will enlighten us to those numbers. if it was me buying, I probably wouldn't givbe more than $550 is it was in very good condition. If you want ot know if it's a true IH built tractor, look at the serial number tag on the left side of the frame behind the brake pedal. If it's a IH built, it will say "International Harvester". If it's a CCC built, it will say "Cub Cadet". If it does say "Cub Cadet, look at the last 6 digits of the serial number, that should be the actual serial number. The rest of the numbers are Kind Codes that tell you what model it is. But if the serial number is 720,000 or below, it has the cast iron rear end. If it is above 720,000, then it has a aluminum rear end. The cast iron rear end are much more sought after. Hope this helps,

Series II has a spec number of 24300 or higher.
