Well did a little looking over the 147 today. The PO sure knows how to make a mess of things. Wonder why it didn't charge? Voltage reg. was new at one time, but where the two rubbers are on the top and bottom, they were broke and put together with black tape.
Next was the wiring, what a mess, there's breaks in the coating all threw it, and black tape!
Check out the battery holders position.
The grill shroud had two bolts holding it in place. I found an empty bottle of 5w-30 oil under the seat, he said he did change the oil! And also included was a bunch of nuts and bolts.
I'm thinking the headlight panel isn't original, but I'm not sure.
But the deck sure is nice

Todd- My 107 headlight panel matched the photo posted earlier- yours is not original in any way. The tail lights are identical to mine, and I had thought mine were aftermarket. (just so you know, I have at least one good red lens. or entire assy. ) Good luck fixing all the wiring, as the owner shorted the battery, really thought he was doing good...

In order to fit a 14hp in that tractor, What was done to the frame by IH ? Is that a special frame( one piece) or is it cut with a bolt in addition to widen it on the sides?

Best of luck on your new tractor!

All I can say is that is SHOCKING the way he has the battery mounted. Those are not the correct lights, look like 1x4 1x5 style.Nice deck I may add.
William,
IH cut the frame and added a piece so it would clear the 14hp flywheel.

Simple solution really. IH cut the frame on each side and the pieces were folded outboard to make way. Then, a gusset was layered up on the outside and welded. I'll post a pic later if nobody beats me to it.

I see clearly. One other question for y'all : is it common for 1x7s to have the hood hinge pivots welded? Mine were, and all paint was gone around that area... looking at Zippys 147 I see the same exact thing. Can't say it was welded but the paint is gone like mine is.

Chris, yah I thought I did good up until today when I really got into it. The wiring is a nightmare, and it looks like the trunion needs some work big time. But for now just trying to find a good place to get a wiring harness.
There fun, but sometimes you just have to wonder what goes through some peoples heads the way things are fixed. I know I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but man what some do.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
