Ok CubNutz remember the 3 digit I seen this weekend and here is one also to digest, brake return spring on the 62 I brought home...mounted on the brake rod. Ever seen that before?...back to the 3 digit, you see no oval cut out for a creeper but the 5 digit I brought home has a cut out.

Wow! thanks for the fast replies guys! I hope to get it and do a complete factory restoration on this one. As far as i know the air cleaner is the original color for the motor (quick call to my grand dad confirmed that) The only mods done by the previous owner was access holes cut in the steering tower on both the right and left side. Unfortunatly i didnt get any pics of the engine serial number and got fed up with moving crap to uncover it. All i know is this thing is rocking the collared spindles, original IH belts with all emblems attached.

Ill be making a return trip to visit with them with in the next two months. maybe i can get my grand dad to tell me the numbers on the frame next time i call!

I own a 3 digit 7XX and it has the thin axle and collar spindles . Has the holes in the foot rest, no slot in the tower for steering adjustment and no creeper hole. I have a 1xxxx O it has a creeper that was dealer installed that had a creeper holed drilled. I also have a couple later O's that has the slot and creeper slot.

I don't think the brake spring isa factory item but a PO/dealer repair.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
