Default My Barrel Train pics

Upon request, here are close-up photos of the barrel train cars I'm building to pull behind my 122 for our annual "Fragile X-Pedition" fundraiser.

Barrels cost $10 each, hand-trucks cost $40 each, about 4 ft of 1/4"X1/2" flat steel cost $7, assorted hardware cost not counted yet, time & blood-sweat-and-tears... priceless.

I've been wondering what that avatar picture is all about...

I've gotta admit, I would definitely enjoy going for a ride in one of the train cars.

Thanks for the compliments! There are loads of videos on youtube showing these things. Most are made with the plastic barrels, but there are a few made from steel drums. I just invision someone slamming their mouth into the edge and losing a few teeth, or worse.
They have been quite a bit of work but well worth it. I only just finished stenciling them today and still have one more hitch bar to make for the front of one car. I now have the bells that the kids can ring attached to the two with the single chairs. I've built a PVC whistle for it that I plan to power from an inner tube, hopefully that will be adequate air pressure. Now to get the clutch problem on the Cub fixed...

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
