Default Front axle question

I have 1450 that I bought that I am finding out needs more repairs than I thought . The front "king pins" are wore out. Looking at page 2-16 in the service manual #8 is called spacer. Is that a brass type bushing, does it have more of a part # than just #8, and I hope they are replacable? Also was going to replace front wheel bearings but there is no size or #s listed, but I can take the old ones to a bearing supply and get replacements with #s off of race unless some one knows a # for them, I still am having trouble with that ratchet idler moving in and out (rapidly with a banging noise) when mower is engaged, Have taken deck off, everthing is tight, belts and pulleys look good. Put new pto belt on, could the electric clutch be the problem, I am goint to replace the two mule drive pulleys, but my hunch is there are okay, Any ideas would be appriciated, I hate to just start buying parts.

HAve you looked it up on parts look up yet? Type in your model number and select the assembly then front axle and connections. From there you'll have the parts break down with part numbers.

I try to place one order so I have everything on hand when I start so I can get right to work.

For your wheel bearings, we need to know your serial number. At one point during production, theychanged from a 3/4" spindle to a 1" spindle.

I'm pretty sure the "king pins" are still available from Cub... I checked back a year or so ago at my local dealer, and they didn't have any in stock, but could order them. Or...you could find another good complete front axle and swap it out. At one time I had 3 spare axles sitting in my shed...gave them all away

Got the new "king pin" bushings today. The axel has a grease zerk in it, the steel bushings have no holes to line up with the zerk, not quite understanding how the grease would get into the bushing to lube the "king pin" bolt. When I get it apart, may see then. Anyone change these out before? Forgot to take serial #'s to get the right wheel bearings, will get them tommorrow. The parts guy at the local dealer said that the in and out movement on the pto belt that drives the deck is pretty much normal, what do you guys and girls see with yours? This is on a 1450. I'm thinking about doing away with the ratchet idler bar and putting a eye bolt setup on it like what is on the other pulley.

The belt tensioner should move a little bit, but not like you're saying. I bet your belt has a big flat spot in it. Take it off and check it out.

I think this is how they are supposed to be, it basically forces the grease up, and down where the spindle and upper bolt rest, and the most friction occurs, this is why you see excess grease oozing out of those areas when you pump it full of grease. All of the king pin bushings Ive removed had no recesses in them either.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
