I finally have my 125 w/K301 running but when installing the carb after rebuild I started thinking I am missing a spacer between the block and carb. There wasn't one on the motor when purchased.
I checked the Kohler parts lookup but can't see one there either. |

Your missing the gasket. Be careful when you order one I got a thin one when I ordered mine last year.

My 127 had the plastic spacer on it when I got it. They are aftermarket I believe and have a built in gasket on each side. When I redid my carb, I did not use mine and just have the carb and gasket. Works fine for me......

You can buy aluminum spacers to help engine heat from radiating into the carb, but the spacers were not factory.

I got a small bakelight spacer with the gskts on both sides from dealer, it is a kohler part, just not sure of the number. Not sure if it was for those engines, but it fits fine and worked good.

You could make out out of gasket material as well easy enough. The early Kohler's had a gasket only then they switched over to the spacer/gasket setup later on. I've had no issues with either, but I believe the spacer was introduced for thermal reasons.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
