Is that a C deck, they are easy to build the spindles. I just mounted one on the 109 because of this, and it mows better than the U it had. The cartridge spindles are the ones that I would like to see a rebuild on. How about a pic of the spindles so I can be sure they are not cartridge type. Nice job with the photos, sure is nice to see work in progress.

I have a 44 a deck that I'm trying to get operational
This is a good example of giving correct and accurate information. While there are a number of 44" decks, the bearings and spindle assemblies are different. Some people (myself included) thought it was one series of decks and it turns out to be something totally different.

The model of this deck is: 318 44" or 190-318-100.

You can go here... Parts Lookup and type in the above model number(s) and it will give you the breakdown.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
