I've lurked here for several weeks, but I recently bought a Model 102, and want to learn as much as I can.
I work for the Army at Tooele Army Depot--about 35 miles west of Salt Lake City. I'm an equipment specialist, but tend to be the jack-of-all-trades--market research for new equipment, writing operating manuals, preparing bids and briefings, etc. I'm married--going on 33 years. I have 6 children and 7 grand children. I served in the Navy from 1971-1973 with a couple more years in the reserves, and in the Army from 1983 to 1989. I enjoy tinkering with mechanical things, shooting, reloading, reading, and play a euphonium (similar to a baritone) in our community band. I also hold an Extra Class Amateur Radio License, though I haven't been too active lately. I look forward to being a part of the forum. Steve Smith aka Utah Smitty |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
