Ditto on having electrical experience. I discovered continuity between the plus terminal and one of the legs of AC output some years back when I thought at the time I was checking out a bridge rectifier. Evidently there is a lot more in the regulator.
Note, I recall from the K series Kohler manual there are different alternator options (based on amperage output) which vary the number of poles in the altenator coil. Perhaps the number of magnets in the flywheel has an effect too. Thanks in advance for working on schematic. Occasionally I thought of an upgrading to a larger output alternator for 12volt sprayers, etc., hope to learn something from your effort. If nothing else, I have a new appreciation for the regulator complexity and therefore will avoid abusing it by having it charge dead batteries, jump starts, etc.
