You may have already looked into a pre made wire kit, but in case you didn't, give these guys a look:

DX,
Thanks, I've looked at the pre made harnesses. A little to much $$ at this point. I'm hoping to only replace a couple of wires to the VR and Dash, hopefully some of the original stuff is still good. When I do the complete restore I'll prolly pick up a pre made |

Do it yourself! You Can Do IT!! I did it- Feels great ! Plus, once you start understanding the basic electrical stuff, your troubleshooting stuff becomes easier! forget the premade wire harnesses.

Use 14AWG wire and use nothing higher than a 15A Fuse and you will be fine.

I'd be sure to use only quality wiring. Wiring is not an area that you want to cut corners. Some of the stuff out there is cheap junk. If you have to replace any of the connector terminals such as the ones in the ignition switch and safety switch, they use what is called Packard 56 series terminals and most NAPA's carry them. They snap into the plastic connectors. Have fun.

Thanks guys!
I'm going to basically patch this wiring to get the battery to charge for the mowing season. This coming winter I'm going to do a total rebuild and possibly get a pre made harness for the correct connectors. |

I've rewired lots of my cubs myself. Its not hard, just time consuming. The best harness I've seen has been Mikes. Any more tractors I get that the wiring is hacked up, I'll get from Mike. All the tractors I'm doing now are not standard on the wiring, so I'll have to make my own.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
