Hi, everyone. I was given an add on hydro unit. It came off an old ford lawn tractor. It looks just like the add on for a narrow frame cub cadet. I rigged it up on my 86, But I can't get it to pump. Does anyone know anything about these pumps. It was working on the ford tractor. do you have to bleed these things and if so how do you do that. Any info would be appreciatted. Thanks, Jeff Holland.

I'd be willing to bet it turns the opposite direction in the Ford GT, so putting it on a CC makes it turn the wrong direction, which is probably why it doesn't work.

Thanks Matt, I had'nt thought about that. I'll check into it. If thats the case, i would have to turn the pump abckwards to make it pump. Thanks again.

Sorry Nick, no pictures yet. Once I get this thing rigged up right I'll post some. Might take a while, don't always have a lot of time to work on it.

every ford tractor ive seen....that runs the Kohler K301 and K321 12 and 14hp motors are set up just the same as the cubs...the driveshaft mounts on the flywheel side of the motor....so unless the pump was mounted on the left side of the tractor...itd be the same as the cub style pump....pics would help. haha. let us know how you make out.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
