oldcubowner,

Not trying to sound like a wise guy or anything but the Originals used a shoulder bolt instead of a pin. Don't have time right now to go dig one up, I'll try to get you dimensions in a day or two.

I would never think of someone as a wise guy when they are being helpful and informative! This is the first Original I have had this far apart and didn't know it was a bolt. My only concern with it now is the welded washer and what I have to do to repair it the correct way.

Thank you for your help and the information. Also is the head of the Original bolt/pin fairly thin? If so this bolt maybe the correct bolt.

Thank You for the information!

Rod

Hey Rod, always nice to see someone with a Cub collection and even better to see another NY Cub collector. Where in the state are you located? I'm down here in Orange County.

Hi Mike,
Nice to meet you!
I live in South Lima about 20 miles south of Rochester in Livingston County. Not many Cub Collectors from around this area that are on here. I just picked up a 1650 it was in great shape until a track hoe backed into the right side and bent the frame fenders and twisted it enough to snap the left ftont spindle off. The deck is flat on the discharge side but the spindles still turn, so it is now a parts tractor. The engine runs great and the hood side shields are in great shape, not sure about the hydro yet. I bought it for the engine and sheet metal for a 16 hp puller I am building. Here are some pictures, I will take better ones once I get it unloaded onto my operating table,,,,,,,,,lol

Hi Jay,
The bolt they used is threaded the entire lenght, so at some point they just welded a couple of washers and used a bolt with a pin through the end, Oh well just a bit more grinding and welding, Now to see what my parts tractor has for a pin. I will check it tomorrow and let you know.
Thanks for the picture!!!

Rod

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
