Default 1810 pto problem

My 1810 dies when I engage it most of the safety switches are disconnected, I have a new battery in it. No belt or deck installed, engine dies immediately when I hit the switch any idea what is causing it to do that would be appreciated. I have tried other pto switches that I know work but still happens.

Have you tried to just use a jumper to power the pto with the belt removed? This would rule out any wiring issues with the switch.

Any chance that you replaced the key switch just before this started happening?

I haven’t tried a jumper wire yet I will today and I don’t think I have changed the ignition switch but maybe. I get them mixed with three different cubs I guess I should write down what I do to each one so I can remember

I ask about the key switch because they may all look similar on the outside but different part number switches will make different contacts on the inside per how each tractor model is wired.
A wrong p/n key switch can cause many malfunctions that make you crazy.
Just throwing food at the wall.
