Update on Hydro,
Well I didn’t want to be that guy! You know, the one who makes the obvious mistakes… but, yeah it was my fault completely. If you take off the seat/ fenders there is that great rectangle inspection plate that easily opens with just 4 bolts. Keep in mind. I had just last week changed the fluid and filter and cleaned out the rear end gunk. Somehow missed a shop towel, closed up the unit. It ran for about half a block and just quit moving. So today, with the help of a friend, opened up the inspection plate and the hydraulic fluid is blue and there are floaty semi transparent booger looking specks clinging to the sides. Drained the fluid, started cleaning out chunks, some big some small. Very messy business. Took off the filter, no chunks in the center but chunks in the outer fluid ports. Then time to take off the pick up tube but first blow through with compressed air. Air came out but not like it should. Took off the tube and there it is… that’s the blockage. Picture will show you! Lots of cleaning, a new filter, new fluid and yep the 149 is running again. I appreciate all your suggestions and I learned much about the system. The biggest lesson for me… double check you take out the paper shop towel. John TV |

Just remember: people that do nothing, make no misstekes
![]() And they make erasers on pencils for a reason. So glad you found the problem, and shared it with us. It just might make someone double check their work. I'm sure we all could tell a story of our mistakes in the past.

We've all been that guy John. Some just don't admit it out loud.
Glad you are back on the road. Ken |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
