Default Power angle snow plow

This may be good to know about...

I recently watched a video of a guy named Jimmy Mack, who has a you tube channel called "Mackland Cub Cadets," take a hydraulic cylinder from a 1650 or 1450 Quietline Cub (either one will work) and use it to make a power angle setup on a 42 inch blade.

He even used the cylinder bracket from the Quietline and attached it to the blade pivot assembly and only had to enlarge two holes that lined up and drill a third hole to mount it. Jimmy did have to fashion a small shaft for the other end of the cylinder to attach it to the blade. He was able to use the hydraulic lines to attach them to the front of the tractor as well. Imagine, a ready made, easy setup for a power angle blade!

Jimmy Mack is a very clever fellow! I believe he is located near Hamburg (Randolph) in Chautauqua County NY, which is located in the southwest corner of New York State.

He buys and sells tractors (mostly Cub Cadets). He disassembles tractors and sells the parts to anyone who wants to buy them, kind of like a garden tractor junkyard. He likes dealing with Quietlines and cyclops style tractors. Jimmy has many repair videos to watch on you tube that will help you with all kinds of repairs and project ideas.

Check Him out on you tube: "Mackland Cub Cadets"

I saw that too. My fear is those don't have enough stroke to match the original, so you're probably losing some angle one way or another. To be fair, I don't know if the original goes fully both ways, but I bought a yellow 54" with the original setup and plan to test that theory soon.

OP, the internet (this site too) claims this is the closest cylinder you can buy.

It ended up being Franklin Park, but yes I did.

I had to swap the ends on the hoses to the eBay NOS pair I bought a few years back (luckily I could find them). Cylinder works good. Checking out my options on cutting edges right now...shipping on the 54" edge is nuts, but idk if I can plasma cut squares that small accurately.

Dilemma is I can put that cylinder on my 42" and have it complete for the 1650 it came with (which has front hydraulics) OR leave it on the 54" (which I'm re-fabbing the mounting block for, PO did a bad job welding it up). In reality I should fix both, but then I have to buy another cylinder lol.

Not to get too far in the weeds, but I went to elementary school in Marengo IL, my parents built a new house, on the north end of Marengo, off of River rd in the mid 70's when I was only a few years old. So I got to attend Hawthorn elementary. I was going to say something in that other thread a few weeks ago, I just didn't mention it.

My Dad still lives in the area, I thought about asking him to grab that power angle blade for me, but he just turned 83, last thing he needs to be doing, is chasing down cub GT parts for me.

I'd like to have hydro cylinder on one of my blades though. Might have to try the one you linked above?

He's real reasonable on his prices also. I bought some parts from him a few years ago, for a few of my project cubs. He's a good guy in my book.

Wow, small world. I live not far from River, and my dad, uncles, and brother all went to Hawthorn.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
