Default New from Southwestern ohio

Hi guys,

This seems like a place I could get information or how to tips or whatever. I uhh pull stuff out of the Junk pile. That's where I got my 71, and 127 parts tractor, and we pulled a 154 Cub lo boy out of there, and countless other lawn mowers. Now I recently, got a couple more, just not home yet. So yeah.

Anywho I have a 1967 Cub Cadet 71, with a plow, which I'm pretty sure is a cub plow. Fun fact you can mount up 5 lug ford wheels to a 5 lug cub so, the more you know.

I hope to learn something, and if anything atleast show others my jerry rigged cub cadet plow!

It may not have the original engine, but it has the 147 frame and remnants of the electric lift. Hope you get it running!

Actually that's probably correct, the hood has been repainted and the only way I figured it to be a 127 was it had a K301 and a hydro transmission. Is there any other differences between a 127 and 147? Thanks in advance!

The frame on the 147 below the flywheel is opened up to make room for the larger flywheel of the 14 hp Kohler vs the straight frame of the smaller flywheel engine equipped 127.

Welcome to OCC! In addition to what they said about the frame, all 147s came standard with headlights, taillights, and an electric lift. They were options on the other models. It’s pretty common for the e-lift to fail and get replaced with a manual one as yours has been. They’re great tractors, and I’d say that one looks like it’s worth saving.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
