It’s been a while since I updated this. I have been working on it, just haven’t had much worth posting about recently. I ended up re-redoing the dash because the primer lifted in a few spots. I think there was an issue with the primer I used the first time, back in 2018. It probably would have been ok if I just sanded those spots out and reprimed it, but I decided to sand all of the old primer off, back down to the factory paint. I shouldn’t have any more issues with it now. I got the hood hinge and headlight panel sandblasted and primed as well.

I took the tires off the rear wheels so they could be sandblasted. I got one blasted and primed it yesterday. I should have the other one done this week too.

I got the gas tank in primer yesterday too. I have 3 of these tanks, this one had a few small dents on the outside, but it was really clean inside. The other two were nicer on the outside, but had rust inside. I have a few NOS gas caps, so I put one of them on too.

I got the other rear wheel, gas tank straps, and side panels in primer today. At this point, I think the only two things I have left are the seat and hood support panel, then everything will be ready for paint.

I got a few more parts in primer. All but the hood support panel on the far left are yellow. That is all of the yellow parts that need to be painted. The last thing I have to get ready is the back of the seat, then all of the white parts will be ready for paint too.

Thanks John! I got that gas tank with a parts tractor, I was surprised how clean it was. I have one more that has a little bit of rust just starting inside, but still pretty clean. The one that I originally bought for this project had a lot of rust in it, and is probably not even worth trying to salvage.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
