Default Clutch issue
Hey Everyone,


My son has a 1968 104, the issue Im struggling with figuring out is the clutch is slipping with the pedal all the way up. But, as soon as you put a little pressure on the pedal it'll go just fine. The teaser spring is broken I know that for sure but its been broke for awhile. One thing I did was put it in gear with it not running and I can roll it but it makes a noise back towards the rear end and driveshaft doesnt move. As soon as I put a little pressure on the pedal it will act as it should. Im sure its just something Im missing. Thanks for your time

Check for a broken roll pin at the back of the drive shaft. The input to the tranny.

You need to put in a new teaser spring.

I agree, fix it. That’s exactly what my 126 did when the teaser spring broke. Luckily I was able to force it into neutral and stop before I hit anything. Kind of scary when you try to stop and can’t.

It ended up being a broken roll pin on the transmission side, it came right out after I dropped the deck. I also ordered a new teaser spring might as well fix it while its down. I am confused as to how it being broken would make the tractor not stop though, as far as I can tell working the pedal it basically acts as a cushion when you let out the clutch, am I correct with that line of thinking?

The spring can get jammed in the clutch release disc keeping it engaged.

That makes sense I was kind of assuming that is what it would be but wasnt sure. Regardless it needs fixed because I'm pretty sure that being broke is what caused the roll pin to break. My son is 10 and he likes to ride around with the throttled maxed out and dump the clutch. The teaser being replaced would help ease that lol
