Starting to put my M18 back together with the new jugs. When I dissassembled my motor there were no base gaskets on the jugs just sillicone. Do I need those gaskets? With the new jugs and no gasket the valve clearance is right where it should be.
Thanks, Dirk |

Remember, silly cone is a sealer not mud to slather over everything.

Thanks for the reply.
I have the 45 degree valves in mine so I am using the correct clearence. Had to google on how to install the jugs. Pistons fiirst then you put the rods in the pistons. Little different from the motocycles I used to do where you slide the jugs down over the already installed piston. Roger that on the silicone I have used that on the motorcycles and car engines I have done. Dirk. |

I've not had any trouble sliding the cylinders on the pistons attached to the rods just like you do with some motorcycles, just have to take your time.
Personal preference I'd say. Its so difficult trying to help people when you don't know them, or their abilities/experience,--- or lack of it. ![]() Most understand but some are offended. Anyway, the free service manual downloadable on our site here, is very helpful, if you have not already done that. At my advanced years, I still learn many things every day. ( I just have a difficult time remembering them, Ha,LOL) Now I have to see if the tooth brush is wet so I know if I scrubbed my teeth this morning ![]() Oh, Yama bond/Honda bond case sealer works well for many things instead of silly kone if you prefer. Again, personal choice. ![]() . |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
