Default Kohler CH23S in a 2554 Throwing Oil out Dipstick

After a few years away from CCs, I find myself in possession of a 17 year old 2554 with 899 hours on the CH23S. The unit has been fairly well maintained with regular oil and filter changes. The crankcase vent system had never been touched. I find that when I mow about half an hour the engine will blow the dipstick and oil comes spewing out. The oil is clean, no indication of gas dilution. The engine runs good, does not smoke, and makes no unusual noises. In my opinion, it appears quite healthy. I currently have the crankcase vent system removed. I find the fiber breather filter clean. The rubber crankcase vent tube to the carb intake was semi-brittle and cracked. The reed valve appears good. Before I replace the gasket and rubber tube and button this thing up, what else should I look at? I just do not see what I've found so far would cause this thing to puke oil. Suggestions for the next step before I button this thing up?

Look for a bad head gasket.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
