Retorquing the heads on these K series engines is pretty much
a standard maintenance item for me. Have never bought one without blown a blown head gasket. I am a bit anal but usually torque them every year as an up keep item. Every time, I find that they have loosened some. Even after many years of use. Have not blown a gasket since. Never dawned on me either to just drill a hole in the shroud. Duh. I'm a bit slow sometimes. Ken

Looking at it actually it seems they thought of that, or it's a happy little accident if you loosen the bolts on the sides of the top sheet metal and take off the lift bracket the head cover will slip off
