The two large headed brass screws (one on top, one on the side)are for mixture control. The much smaller screw by the throttle lever is for low idle speed.

If you haven't already, you can down load the service manual for the Magnum
FREE, and it covers a lot of info that you might want/need to know.

Thanks I would be interested in down loading the service manual. I watched the video and it was very helpfull. The top screw for high speed mixture and the idle screw on the side for idle mixture were both adjusted at the mid point were the engine started to slow down then the idle speed was adjusted. I only need to replace the battery maybe with a 375 cranking amp and reinstall all the panels. I also am going to change oil and filter and noticed the ford F400 filter was an option. Its great to be bringing this old 782 back to life again as its used for snow plowing with my dual motion blade.

The Ford moto crap filter is longer so you will need to trim the metal shrouding to allow for this additional length.
It has more filter/cooling area and is way less expensive.
Tin snips and a burr or stone on your die grinder makes a craftsman like appearance of the trim job if installed on the engine block.

No mods are necessary if you have a remote filter with lines/hoses.

I have the remote filter, thanks for the info. Finished installing all the engine tin, grill surround, hood and side panels. Found a crack in the aluminum grill, so I ground and cleaned the crack and tig welded. Set the spark plug gaps at .035 and started the engine. It only has to turn one turn and it fires right up. I lucked out with a decent running mag 18 considering I had to trust the young guy for his word after having to drive one and a half hours one way. Over all a good investment of money and time.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
