Metalrain - Now there's a nice way to spend the day. Except for the -10 degree part - That's a touch chilly for my soggy PacNW bones.

Thanks for sharing the pics!

Got my 149 ready for the winter.....almost, I ran out of time so I hired a carb rebuild because it was running rough and leaked fuel...about a drop every 3-5 minutes when not running. Now it is dripping fuel at a rate of a drop every 3-5 seconds........so it is heading back and just as we are getting our first snow storm. Well, here it is prior to the snow storm----Thanks raboley for the snowcab, it works great!!! Still need to toss the chains on it, too.

PS: Can anyone identify the brand of the wheel weights that I have on it? I cannot find any stamping at all on them anywhere.

Nice Cub Cadet and cab, Cub Cadet 123! I may be wrong, but your wheel weights look like they may be Sears weights.

Thanks Allen!! I kind of suspected them of being Sears, but I'm not for sure. I know another guy who has the same pair on an old Bolens and he didn't know either. They aren't particularly heavy, but for $20 what do you expect.

Default A little snow in the south

Living in middle Tennessee we don't get the snow like in the Smokies. But when it does come I'll jump on the little Original (like a kid) and have a ball!

-10? wussy!!! Jk jk! My 1650 starts at -30 it's only cold when it's -30 somethin and got a 30 or 40k wind.lol I would love for it to be only -10. But my cub doesn't care it still works whatever the temperature. On a more relevant note, to get my 1650 ready for winter, I put in new rod, piston, rings, lapped the valves, and a gasket set. I found a set of 26-10.5-12 quad tires, brand new. 60 pounds of washer antifreeze in each tire, and 44 pounds of iron on the back, plus me. I bought a 35w lamp at Canadian tire, and mounted it under the seat, on the back of the fender pan. I installed a switch on the dash and a 4A fuse. That way I can see to back up, and can turn the light on when I don't need it. Then I drug the snowthrower out of my big storage shed, shot some paint on the gravel blasted chute, and straightened out the auger, and some dents from gravel in the thrower body. Then I greased the drivshaft, tensioned the chain, and shot some blower lube all over the business end of the snowthrower. I'm having camera problems so pics might be a while.

Tractor2nv--Great looking original and blade!!! I don't see too many originals with blades that are that nice of shape and still put to work, but hey....that's what they were made for!!! I'm jealous that you have more snow down south than I do.....

---->Does the lift rod for your blade go under your original or on the side, I can't tell by the picture?

As for the negative temps, Young Enthusiast........I can do without them, I don't mind the 20's, but several times last year my region got colder than Alaska was, isn't that strange? Never thought about going to a warmer climate, like Alaska for the winter!! Can't wait to see your pictures...

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
