First, I want to thank you all for your help. I could not have done this without your input. This is a great website full of very knowledgeable people about this stuff. As suggested the last time I cleaned the leads coming off of the ignition coil one was definitely in bad bad shape. Then, I cleaned and re-tightened my battery cables, of all things. Over the years I know I’ve had a lot of electrical problems just because of that with various vehicles. Last I brushed and cleaned the negative master ground up near the oil filter. I’m happy to report at my old club is running like brand new. I did not want to report until I used it a couple of times without a problem. It was definitely not getting spark continuously. Thanks again for all your help.

I wonder why they use these diodes to begin with. I understand that they limit current going one way. When they go bad does it cause an open circuit?

I think when they go bad they short causing them to have adverse effects on each other. This will cause them to have erratic spark.
