I just purchased a used 2006 LT1042 with a 19hp motor, The problem is that the motor blew apart and shoved a rod through the bottom of the block, everything is bad, piston, connecting rod, crank and so on. Well my question is where can i find a short block for this fairly cheap? I only paid $100.00 and it looks brand new. (hour meter only reads 11.1 hours) And the best i can tell should be worth $700 - $900 fixed and running. let me know if this is worth fixing or should i part it out and find another one. Thanks for any and all reply's.

Take a look at Small Engine Warehouse. They have a complete engine for less than a short block. You may have to swap some parts but it should save you a few $$$$. Hope this helps.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
