Hi folks! I think I ran across this site few years ago, but didn't join. I've owned 3 Cubs before I bought an 1864 back in April as probably a flip, but may just keep it. the 3 previous ones were all bought brand new- a HDS2165 in 1994, a 3204 in 2000 or 2001, sold that one in 2007 to get a Kubota GR2100, then when that crapped the bed right after warranty expired I bought another Cub Cadet, can't remember which model that one was... I'm getting it presentable, as the previous owner sprayed it with some god awful light yellow paint. I got a 48" deck with it, put new blades, spindle bearings, belt, and patched some holes in it. Bought the Cub Cadet yellow spray cans from Tractor Supply, looks much better. New grille assembly, graphics. Tried to clean up hood and side panels, better, but not happy. Tires I believe are original, but the fronts have some splits on sidewalls, and a couple on the rears. The rears are loaded with antifreeze by p.o., as it was his snowblower tractor. Changed all oils and filters, spark plugs. Seemed to run decent, but have not had the deck attached to it yet. I'm crossing my fingers that it works, as my main mower-Kubota BX1870-is in the shop with some drivetrain vibration problems at only 439 hrs

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
