Hi guys, I've been following your discussion. I'm new to the site and wasn't
sure if I could dive in with questions or if I need to create a new post? It seems the knowledge I need is in this group so here I go. I'm working on a 149 that has PTO w/brake. When disassembled all set screws were stripped and it didn't have any friction disk. I'm ready for rebuild and just discovered the thrust button is damaged beyond repair. The slot for the spring washer/snap ring is destroyed thus the brake disk won't stay on. Also the brake shoe assembly is bear metal, I'm thinking it's supposed to have brake material attached. Where I can source the thrust button 59 982 C1? Do I have options for restoring operation other than back to factory design? Thanks in advance, sorry if I've derailed the thread, let me know ![]() |

If it were me, I'd make it a Type B PTO by getting part(s) 8 & 9 in the drawing and doing away with the brake parts (16-22). |

That brake pad is $100.00. That’s on top of the PTO rebuild. I agree with Ironman.

Thanks Iron Man, if time allows I'll check out the conversion in the next few days, My son-in-law and daughter are based at Pearl Harbor getting ready to have her first baby. I'll have to take a couple weeks off to visit as I haven't seen them in 2 years. The mower will be here when I get back. thanks again, it really helps me with not having to reinvent the wheel (PTO) Jeff

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
