Default trouble starting 127

I've had this issue for a little while now. When I try to start my 127, it's giving me fits. When I crank it and it seems like it's just about to kick off of its own, the engine stops turning. I can see everything spinning, then it stops for a quick second. Stop cranking it and try again, same thing. Over and over. I pulled the air cleaner off and when the engine stops spinning, it shoots a puff of gas out of the carb. If I let it sit and then go back out after a half hour or so, then I can get it to start. I have no idea what the problem is. It's quite annoying and I need something I can start when I need to clear snow this winter. Any ideas?

First you got to make sure that you have a good battery to crank it over and check all your connections and see if there all clean and tight. If that's not it then it sounds like you may have some carb issues. You may be flooding the engine, you maybe choking it too much or your float on the carb may be stuck open and the combustion chamber is too full off fuel and it wont let the engine turn over. Check your oil and see if it smells like gas.

I'd say it sounds like a weak battery, or more likely a bad ground connection.
Where the battery cable attaches to ground is usually rusted or corroded. Also, your engine should be a good contact to the frame (no loose bolts). The absolute best way to connect the negative is directly to the starter-gen bracket if you can. It takes more cable, but will spin the starter with gusto.
If you think it's a bad battery, boost it with your jumper cables attached to your vehicle. If it doesn't spin a lot faster, your old battery was probably fine. Leave your car/truck off when you're boosting it though - you just want the extra battery capacity for this test. Disconnect the booster cables before starting your car/truck.

Check the timing , if it is extremely too far advanced, that could cause that condition.
And if it is a starter/generator setup, make sure the belt is tight and not slipping.

Default mine too

Mine was doing this too. The belt was slipping a bit while cranking. I also had a little gas in the oil because I flooded it a bit. I say change the oil, and tigheten that belt first then go from there

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
