Default Hydro pedal damper

I have a 3240 with sticky motion pedals. Does anyone think I could improve it by disconnecting the damper piston? I cleaned and lubed the linkages and the bearings on the hydro drive plate. The shaft going into the hydro moves freely and the tractor has a good neutral. Speeds in forward and reverse are good. I removed the piston and it seems fine. dampened in one direction and free in the opposite direction. Maybe a lighter return spring? Thanks for any insight.

Welcome to OCC.

I had a similar issue on my 3165 this year. I found that the large brass looking hex flange bearing going through the frame was the problem. #40 on the parts look up. https://www.cubcadet.com/en_US/ari-p...373442e1ade4/y
Disconnect the linkage going to the hydro and see if the pedals move easily. The left side one on mine was binding so I lubed it up good and worked it back and forth. This solved my problem and maybe it will yours too. Let us know what you find.

Just wanted to thank you let you know that one of the bushings you told me about was the problem. A little heat and I removed it, cleaned the shaft and bushing and assembled with a dab of grease. Now it's perfect! Pedals are as smooth as silk.
Thanks again for the help. It's appreciated.
John

I have to repair a missing bolt on the upper left of the valve cover. I'm doing that today. I bought this on ebay a few weeks ago for 1800.00 and the seller said it was perfect. Under 500 hrs.Well after 250 in parts and a couple days labor I'm selling it at a loss for 1800.00. Everything is good except the fuel warning light stays on so I removed the bulb and I disconnected the seat switch. New grommets on the fuel sender and pickup tube. Brand new blades and all tires. I bought it because my wife can't work the ZT I have. I went out and got her a JD X730. She's happy now.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
