You could always put tubes in the originals too, if you wanted.
There's a LOT of repainted new shiny cubs , and they're very nice looking, but there's only ONE that looks like the one you have. I think it's great that you're keeping it that way, showing that it's earned it's patina!

good idea I hadn't thought of on just using tubes in the orig 2 ply firestones...…. think ill get a pair hopefully I can break it down and install without the tire falling apart

You should be able to just break one bead off the rim, and stuff a new tube in without a big problem!
Hint: Put soapy water on it before you start doing this :-)

good advice, I think ill try tubes ebay has a pair for like 14.00 would like to keep the original rear tires if poss
will be getting a light wiring kit to hook all of them up very soon will be posting build and maintained pics here will stay patina just oiled lubed and washed will live inside my shop with a cover ![]() |

Here's how I break the bead
Remove valve core . Place 2x12 piece of wood, or sometimes I use one of my drive on car ramps right on the edge of the bead near (but not ON the rim). Drive car up the ramp till bead pops off the rim. Done!

when the rim is flat on the ground, try and get the business end of whatever you're driving up on RIGHT on the seam where the tire meets the rim (two people helps this... you dont want to bend the rim).
I've done this a bunch of times and it's always worked... Also, it helps when putting the tube in, if you let it sit in the sun and soften up some before wetting it with the soapy water and slide it into place.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester.
