I made some progress on the "72". The fuel system is in place but the but it looks goofy! It may get revised. I had some hood latches from an old 125. These were sand blasted and powder coated "chrome".

Looks great. Copper line is always a pain to make looked right. I like rubber with stainless braid.

I would like to comment but that would be improper so here it goes...
There are no hood latches on a 72. You need the same fuel line setup as a 70 has. I do believe I have the correct fittings you need, but I would have to look.
Your blankies are dirty...

The correct fittings would be ideal...tough to find. I do have new Kohler sleeves for those fittings. The latches are an "upgrade" cuz I want them ...yayyyy.

Yikes! those blankies are dirty!

I have two mower decks to choose from for this tractor. Originally, I wanted to restore a model "72" with a 42" deck like my dad had when I was a child. However, I added fenders and hood latches to this build....why....cuz I like the looks of them. Now I have two mower decks to choose from....a 38" (pictured) and a 42". The condition of the decks are about the same. They both will be restored at some point. I probably will restore the 38" first and install it on the "72". I have a "73" with skinnies all around that might look better ultimately better with the 38" deck.

The decals look great! I'm sure whichever deck you choose, you'll do the same fantastic refurb!

Thanks for updating!

The tractor looks GREAT! This is good stuff!

Somewhere along the project the the tractor sprouted fenders? Didn't see that at the start.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
