Default Brake job?

Hi everyone,

I have a '75 Cub 1000 that needs new brakes. This has the single pedal brake/clutch combo. Any help and/or suggestions would be much appreciated. I have never attempted a brake job on a tractor.

Thanks!

Are you sure they arent just out of adjustment?

Welcome to OCC by the way!

First thing you want to do is go to the tech section here and get the repair manual for your machine

Hi Cooperino,

Thanks! I'm not actually sure they aren't out of adjustment. I just figured while going through the work to investigate. I might as well plan on doing a brake job anyway. It doesn't stop very well, but it shifts fine, so I'm thinking it's not the whole clutch/brake assembly, but just the brakes. I was hoping for an exploded view or step by step instructions for disassembly and assembly of the braking system. I think through the tech pages but can't seem to find the repair manual for the 1000. Do you have a link as to where I can find it?

Thanks

It's free,
There are people selling them on Ebay and other places if you really want to spend the money. Or you could just print one out for the cost of the paper.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
