the pump goes on top of the cam. I didn't try the old pump with it off the engine. I took the old pump apart and one of the chambers fell out. I did order the electric pump so I will go that route. Thanks for all the recommendations. I'll let you know the out come when I get the electric pump on.

Thanks Again
Jeff

The "chamber" would be a check valve, it happens, as they are not retained in there in the best way, like the older pumps were.
just make sure you wire the 'lectric pump so it only runs with the key on /and in the start position which might involve a relay as the m-series does not have a 12V ignition coil, just a magneto, so you can't power it with the coil lead.
I ain't going to study your electrical schematic to figger out the circuit to do that.
Me I'm old skool, a mechanical pump works just fine.

I would have preferred the mechanical pump also. It's the mower we use at our cabin that is an hour to the nearest store. With work and the temp in the upper 90"s today I don't have the time to spend on it. Hopefully the electric pump will last a very long time.

Well I got the electric pump in and it still won't run. Pull the spark plug and it's bone dry. It has what looks like the original float and needle so I'll be ordering those next. Very frustrated at this point. Took the engine out today to clean the mice nest in the flywheel area.

Sound like the fuel supply is blocked on the fuel supply tank, Didja check for flow out of the fuel supply tank before you bought a new pump?

There is good flow from the tank. I put a new valve and grommet in it a couple of years a go.

Well guys, I am up for the dummy of the weekend award. When I took the engine out to clean the mice nest I shut off the gas valve. Well, when you forget to turn it back on it doesn't run so well. It's back together and running good.

The carb was hard to find part numbers for. Even the service manual did not have info on the Walbro carb that I could find. Looking for part numbers on the web I came across a PDF file of carbs used by Kohler on a lot of there engines. A lot of part numbers in this file.

Thank You for your patience and help.
Jeff

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
