Hydro Release Valves
Hi everyone. I am restoring an 882 Diesel that had been sitting a few years. I have it running but ran into an issue. With it running the hydro release valves were not leaking. Then one time I started it and both were leaking like a sieve. I took one out looked at it and put it back in. Started it up and neither was leaking. Is it possible they can stick? Can you spray them out with brake cleaner, carb cleaner, WD40 etc. or do they have to be replaced or rebuilt? Or do I have another problem?

They started leaking bad while I was cranking the tractor to start it (it was cold). Once the tractor started they continued to leak. I shut off the tractor, took one out, put it back and started it again. Now no leak. It did this once before.

It's cold, and the small "O" rings are worn/cracked/brittle from the years of usage. they might reseal but in the end, they will need attention.
So you can have them rebuilt by the fellow on ebay, or buy new for big $$$$$$$ or wait and replace them when they start leaking again, usually at a inopportune time  your call.
