The good...
Looks good when is assembly time?.
The bad...
I cannot tell, but are the brake rotors masked off?
The other concern is the breather for the tranny, was that covered also?

Thanks for the compliments!

Lew, I'm hoping to start reassembly next week. The brake rotors were not masked off, but the breather was.

I am starting on my 149 rework and was wondering if you replaced the rear axle seals? If so I was hoping you could tell me where you got them and what size they are? Something appears to be leaking back there on my little gem. ;-) Thanks.

I did not replace them, I don't think they were leaking on mine. I did replace the cork gasket though.

Chances are it’s the relief valves and/or the cork gasket that are leaking. They are much more prone to leaking than the axle seals.

Between the pump and the transmission there is about a 3" dia cork gasket. Its a very cheap fix, but takes a good amount of labor. Search the forums you should find multiple references to it. Given the age of the machines, when You go in to do this $10 repaair, you can drop another $1-200 or even more in other needed things that you take apart in the process.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
