Waiting on parts for the 16hp rebuild(parts $$$ really), so I yanked the clutch out of the 104, already have those parts on hand. Found this on the coupler to driveshaft connection. Noticed the shaft was loose...

I knew better than to try that one Lew, so I knocked out the other one at the rearend connection and beat this one out in the luxury of the bench vise, came out OK with 3 lb short handled sledge in the vise. Can't really tell if its a spirol or two regular pins one inside the other. Hole is somewhat wallered on the shaft, I may be hittin up Jeff shortly.

Gave the 104 to my buddy Eric today, he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's yesterday. He has been after it for a couple months, the look on his face when I showed up with it was priceless.
He just turned 65 and retired last month.

My condolences to your friend.
I watched a friend/neighbor pass away from that.
I wasn't pretty, near the end, he would look @ me with tears in his eyes, unable to communicate or control bodily functions.
Enjoy his friendship while he stills knows who he is.

It took about 2 years from diagnosis to death for my friend.
He was the head Dean/director of the dental school @ the university before his retirement.
Alzheimer's reduces people to mindless life forms, it's so sad.
They donated his brain to the university in hopes of helping find a cure for others.
Prayers for your friend.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
