Default 14 horse kohler
the local small engine shop has an old 14 horse kohler out of a j*** d**** thats all rebuilt for a 100 bucks. just checking to see if it would fit in a cub? i'm pretty sure it doesnt because i thought cub used there own style of base but not sure? help me out here. thanks

Sorry, I'm unsure but a rebuilt 14 hp kohler for $100......that sounds like a deal too good to pass up!!! >>I like how you blocked out the brand name.....guess those are is a dirty words around here....:biggrin2.gif:

You can't even rebuild an engine for that with aftermarket parts for $100. I would be wary of that. The block is different anyway.

So there's no way of fitting it into a cub without choppin and drilling?

IIRC there is a difference in the diameter of the crankshafts. Thus, the PTO from a Cub may not fit an a JD spec'd motor.

Default what model deere
I beleive you can bolt the cadet pans onto the deere blocks. I will be able to verify this in a day or so. The 100 series deere i believe is the same block as the cadet. The 200 series deere has the heavy bottom flanges (that the flat pans would bolt to) but they are used for mounting the engine only. the 200 series still uses the small square oil pan. I am picking a 10hp out of a 210 deere I will pull the pan and fit up a cadet one and let everyone know.

I believe my k321 came out of a green meanie. I had to change the oil pan and do some tinkering to the crank shaft to get the pto to work, but other than that it was a simple swap. Got mine from a guy, 30 over, new piston and valves for $50.

i'm just thinking of a temporary motor to through in one while the original cub motor is getting rebuilt. so it wouldnt need a pto on it

Default jd blocks
Ok got my 210 motor today. It will fit in a wide frame but not a narrow one, you can cut the casting flanges to make it fit in a narrow frame. (I'll try and get pictures up) the oil pan has the holes drilled and tapped so it could be bolted right in a cadet. Downfall is it has a shallow flat pan on it. It would be advisable to change to a cadet deep pan and long dipper connecting rod.
The 300(16hp) 312(12hp) 314(14hp) should be the same block as a cadet. P.S. the k241aqs engine I got out of a jd 210 has the k301 cast into the front of the block Every 10hp i've seen that uses this mounting system in the deere is built in a 12hp block
