I think you are on the right track.
Those walboro's with the main jet on the side are lean, and all the jet screw does is basically allow you to lean it more. It is normal to get little flecks of fuel line in the bowl, especially when you replaced it all. I can only suggest you keep cleaning them out till you get them all. Were you able go get the emulsion tube out to clean it? ( it is the one in the center above the bolt that holds the fuel bowl on) Cant remember for sure, but thinking it was covered on the top by an expansion plug. With all the time you have spent, might be better to get one of those epay china adjustable ones as you mentioned, and be done with it. Just make sure if you do, it has the correct choke pull linkage for your application as there are front and rear pull linkages. Make sure their pix is the style you want. Do take care removing/replacing the fuel hoses as just a slight fleck can cause an obstruction.
