The points are gonna spark, if it won't throttle up or runs rough it's either the carb or timing.

Thanks Tim, I just thought they were sparking a little more than normal. Now that you mention it, I didn't adjust the carb yet, I don't think as quick as I used to. I'm going to set timing when I get new points, unless you don't think it needs them.

If they work they work but if you want to put new ones in then go ahead, I try not to spend money until it's a necessity.

there's a 129 about 35 miles away that has been sitting out by the road for a few years for sale now, very rough but complete with an engine that isn't seized or blown up, been sitting a few years at least tht I know of, I have been by and left notes 4x this spring, a couple times making "special trips" to try and catch the people around there and still have had no contact about it....
DT Perhaps if you simply take the tractor and leave them a $50 with a note and your phone # in a ziplock bag you might get their attention.

Congrats on getting it running. Looks like it has better tires on it now, too.

I'd leave the new coil and condenser on as preventive maintenance. Especially with the old ones being "so" old who knows how much life is left in them.... They ain't that much money anyway.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
