More than likely one of them was dry when you put it up and one or more of the bearings pitted from the presence of moisture.. could be in the spindles or the tension idler.. my 374 had a bit of noise several years ago but a set of bearings and an idler made it quiet and smooth as can be.. My local car quest had the bearings in stock... all 6 of them were less than $40.. they use a common 6205 bearing and are really simple to replace.

Sam has some good links and tips on the 374 deck.. He posted a link earlier in this thread

I think I am going to to do a full overhaul on this deck while I got it apart. I have a 50 inch deck from a 782. What all do I have to change to put the 50 incher on?

Too much to mess with. Need a mule drive from a super that had a 50. Maybe even a different PTO.
Just replace the bearings in the Haban and mow the rest of the year. It's not a bad job. Restore it in the winter.

Terry, the GT's and SGT's use the same undercarraige for the 50" deck. They just use a different bolt position on the mule. A 2072 used the same PTO as a 782.

Just mount it. Only difference is noted above. That, and you will need a longer belt. The operators manual for the 50" deck tells how to set it up. You can find it here, page 15:

Just to clarify....u have a 50" deck. But u will need the under carriage for that 50" deck. The 60" undercarriage won't work with the 50".

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
