Default 105 Shaft

I have been hearing a little scratching/hitting in the fan area on my 105, so I got looking and two bolts holding the fan guard came out, so I replaced them. That stopped the scratching/hitting for awhile, but then yesterday it came back, and the bolts were tight. But I watched the drive shaft turn as I cranked it and it was bouncing around, so I checked the vibration disks and they were tight and looked fine. So then I checked the drive shaft, and it's bent. My question is, how could this have happened, and is there something else I need to replace besides the shaft?

Thanks

I'm not entirely sure. It could've just warped over time or a bolt for it might of came a little loose. Thats all i got. When you get a new one just make sure its all aligned.

Yes, I really don't know how it happened.

Did you replace the shaft, or just straighten it?

Just replaced it. I don't know anything about straightening metal rods or anything.

Made my own for my 1250. 5/8 round stock from your local hardware store.

Alright....I have found out that my shaft is not bent. The end that goes into the hydro's input shaft it worn. I have ordered a new flex disc (because I figured this probably wasn't good for it) but what should I do about this worn end?

Thanks

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
