1864 - How much hydro fluid?
I have drained my hydrotrans unit and it looks like about 3 - 4 quarts is all that came out. What is the capacity of these things?
I have 4 quarts of Cub Cadet trans oil that came with the tractor. If that is not enough, what is the equivalent fluid available from an auto parts store? Also, the fluid was pretty dirty. I saw some information on another thread about removing the rear plate and cleaning out the axle tubes. Is this an issue on my 1864 as well?

In addition....Here are the recommended hydraulic fluid.... Fluid And YES, pulling the rear cover and clean up the rear end is a REAL GOOD idea.

In order to suction the crud out of the axle tubes you need to remove the axles. If you are going to do this I would replace the axle seals also. Not a big project if you are good with the tools. Pull the cover, remove the wheels and brake calipers, pop the C-clips off the axels and they will slide out. Suck the crud out of the tubes, remove and replace the seals, grease the axles so they don't cut the new seals, put the axles back in, the C-clips on clean the old gasket off the cover and put it back on with the sealant of your choice. Enjoy. Oh I forgot your original question, you need close to 2 gals.

I looked at 772-4166 Service Manual on page 5.107 and I still don't see this 11 Qt thing.

Here's the deal, I've only done about a dozen trans refills in the last year. The 1864 has the Sundstrand pump and same case as a Super. The last one of those that I did was last week and it took less than 2 gals. more like 7qts.
