The Girl came with a tiny little 46" deck . I have about three acres to mow, so finding a 60" deck is on the to do list.

Look for a 54" deck, much easier on the tractor. The 60" Habans are nice but they beat the tractor to death because of the weight.

Looking great!!

Like Sam said.... add a set of the rear axle braces... they really stiffen up the chassis and save the fragile aluminum rear axle mounts.

Thanks Jay. I checked the rear axle and good so far, nothing broken or loose. I definitely will be ordering brackets as soon as the wallet recovers a little. Anyone need a couple dozen antique outboard motors? That's my other addiction! If I sell some of the outboards, I can buy more Cubs!

The fact that it had a 46" deck is probably why the rear is in good shape. A lot of the Supers that had the 60" decks were used commercially before the zero turns became the rage and they got beat up.

That's very true. I got lucky with this one, it's a one owner machine used to mow a two acre lawn that was table top flat. I kinda glad the owner was a fool and let it go because of the oil leaks and bad plastic. His loss, my luck!!

My 1782 was a one owner machine with the big Haban. Fortunately my mounts on the transaxle weren't broken but were loose... even after tightening the bolts I noticed alot of frame flex or twist when going over uneven terrain. Especially in the tunnel area. I took Sam's advice on the braces. After installing the braces the tractor feels rock solid... absolutely no flex or twist now. I understand about the budget!... I have the same problem

It's all looking great!! Can't wait for the Turbo project on the smoker!!
