Getting the 1772 ready for the season
Well I broke the 1772 out of the shed this morning to prep it for the season. I started out adjusting the valve clearance since I've put about 100 hours on it since I got it and was unsure of how good the previous owner did the job. GLAD I DID! Most of the valves were tight with clearance of about 0.010" instead of the listed .015 - .018". One valve in particular had a lot of clearance in the order of about 0.039". I don't know if the PO messed things up on this valve or something is wearing. It is the intake on cylinder #2. I adjusted it for 0.016" and put it back together and will check a little further on in the season to see if something is moving/wearing. The oil looks fine with no debris in it. After I finished the valves, I ran it to get it good and warm and changed the oil and filter. I had already changed the hydro filter in the fall when I put rear end braces on it. Not to out do myself, I then kicked over the used oil and made a real mess in the garage.
 I was going to grease it but by the time I got the mess cleaned up, I decided to call it a day and have a nice cold one in the house.

Thanks Allen, the weatherman said we are supposed to be seeing temps around 80 by Wednesday, so I better get the jump on things before spring gets the jump on me!

I hear ya, Frank. We did our first mowing today. The grass was high in some spots, it's like it grew overnight...lol!
