15 years ago we were dyno testing a new motor, I hooked up the vacuum pump to the crankcase wrong so it pressurized the crankcase , anyway it blew the fill plug out and sprayed oil all over both of my Harleys.

Pulled a 12' JD disk in transport mode. After a little rocking back and forth, finally got it moving. Was moving it to a different spot on the farm and space was to small to get a farm tractor to it.

Before mowing with the 1211 I always check the oil and one day I didn't make sure the dipstick was snapped in the whole way, about 15 minutes later I notice oil running down the side panels. There was only half a qaurt left in the engine and the rest was all over everything else, what a mess that was to clean.

I filled my push mower up with diesel. My diesel can had crud in it so filled a gas can up and forgot to label it. I realized once it was hammering and soot started coming out of the exhaust. Recently I changed a shear pin in the thrower and didn't tighten the belt back up.

I have been thinking about this thread. I can't decide if I should list the boneheaded moves alphabetically or chronologically.
Just off the top of my head;
Was reassembling the rear of the 2182 I left the drain plug out and the rest you can guess.

I was standing next to the 100 adjusting the carb last week when it was running and the vibration kicked the pto on, at least I let the deck down all the way to the ground. I still have all 10 of my toes.

Filed the bracket so it don't do that no more.

I brought home a wayward 147 without an engine.

Last summer I wanted to move a 682 I had just bought to a property I have in the mountains for mowing. I have a 5x10 ft. trailer that I use for that. So it was Friday an I wanted to get it loaded before the wife got home cause I use her 4runner to pull it. So I hook the trailer to my 782 witch I do often to jockey the trailer around an park it on a pretty good down slop on my driveway. Drop the rear gate an drive the 682 up the ramp. Well as soon as I got the rear wheels on the trailer it lift the front of the trailer enough to cause a runaway 782 for about 40 ft. till she went off the drive into the woods with me sitting on the 682 on the trailer. Talk about a heart pounding moment. At least the 782 didn't hit any trees before we got stopped.

I did that once with a big tractor behind my pickup; truck was in park but the slope and lift when the rear tires climbed on were a bad combination. It wasn't hardly sloped where we loaded, but got steep just a little farther along. Probably went 70-80 yards before it jack-knifed with my dad running alongside trying to get to the cab to steer it. Luckily it was a bumper-pull trailer, so it just snugged up the bumper to the body rather than pushing a fifth-wheel hitch arm into the rear corner of the cab.

Funny thing was we were hauling the tractor to get the brakes worked on. I had it in creep, so I just kept shifting from forward to reverse along the few extra feet I had on the trailer to keep on top of it. Now I have a ramp made of dirt, and I back the trailer into the hole and climb the dirt to get on top. No ramps, the slope keeps it put, and no runaways. Still haven't told either my wife or my mother...

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
