I can't tell from the pics but is the pump on the aluminum rear a ported pump? Looks like the rear in your 1450 is an internal brake setup while the aluminum rear has external brakes. If so I'd say it won't swap without a lot of work.

It's a moot point now, but did you do as I suggested in post #4?----------
if you follow the service manual on re assembling/ checking things as you go the hydro should work. IIRR the valve plates have to be assembled correctly, but it's been awhile since I've been inside one, and I forget chit. ![]() |

I'm thinking that it's too clean. I've never opened up a working rear differential that was that clean.

Hey, I know your at a loss here.... but you could have just installed a pressure gauge and checked it. Disassembly wasn't necessary at this point. If you had read the service manual like we suggested, you would have known that.
Well... order some gaskets and put it all back together. Then, hook up a pressure gauge. You have to be missing something simple, or someone removed the pressure regulator valve out of the pump housing. Nothing in there is broken. Should work. That other rear end won't work at all in your 1450. Sam talked about the brake issue which is very true, but it isn't a ported pump and your old one is. No go. |

I always hate it when you can't find an obvious problem....
Only comment is be super attentive to the service manual to be sure the hydro stat is reassembled correctly--valve plate position and charge pump orientation. Might as well replace trunnion and main shaft seals while you are at it. Be careful removing the swash plate, follow the instructions exactly, esp, the part about the shaft pin removal. As Jonathan said, it should work.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
