The original was the only IH cub cadet you could not put a tiller on like the rest of them, you needed a tow behind Planet JR. to do the job.
But with a torch and a welding setup, anything is possible.

If you put the front later style PTO on an Original you can put a tiller on Geezer had one on one of his Originals

You can put the tiller on even if you do not have the PTO kit, it is just not very safe. As far as the mule drive the one for the deck should work fine. The belt I suggest mounting everything up and measuring it with a piece of string or something like that and just buying a belt that is close. I think most places will allow you to return it if it is wrong so long as you never "run it" with the belt. I just measured the difference between the original and 100 for length and it might be close. It would be a good place to start. Just make sure you do not run it unless you know you can get the belt tight.

I saw Geezer running a tiller on a Original at a plow day several years ago.

Since IH never offered a tiller set-up for an Original, you will have to figure out the belt length for yourself. Unless of coarse someone here has done this before. The closest guess you will probably find is 13/32" X 141-7/8" (The correct belt size for the Narrow Frame tractors with tillers). As an Original IS NOT a Narrow Frame tractor, this is most likely not the correct belt, but it's a place to start. Do what the guys have told you, get it mounted and everything set up, then wrap a rope through the pulley system and measure the length of the rope. That will still probably not get you the exact length, but you'll be a step closer.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
