Default Hydro Pump Conversion Question

I am rebuilding an 882D and I would like to put a CV style Cyclops drive shaft in it. Is it possible to swap my existing pinned shaft hydraulic pump with a splined shaft pump for a turn key input shaft to drive shaft fit on the splines instead of machining an adapter?

I also have a Cyclops power steering unit and super steer axle I will be putting on this machine so my thought is to change over all of these components together.

...You didn`t mention a replacement pump model but I dont see any that would have the same output shaft part number as the 882 pump that would have a splined input shaft... except maybe one from a 1541 hydro b. But the adapter idea seems a lot easier and likely the only route...

Yes, you can swap the pump, but the driveshaft lengths are different. I believe you have to lengthen the the CV style shaft just a bit, but can't remember for sure. All other parts will swap out.... but the 882 does not have a tilt column, so you will have to make a shaft to go to the handpump or find one off of a SGT of '82 series style (1872, 2072) and shorten it to work. Also, I don't think the brace for the pump will work on the '82 chassis. There is a lot of adaption to be done. None of it will be "turn key".

Thanks Jonathan,

That is what I needed to hear. I realize this is not a "turn key" deal but I want to build a robust machine that will last me.
I have access to a machine shop and welders so changing shaft length is not an issue. I was just concerned about the splined vs. roll pin connection.
Thank you!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
